A Brief About FSSAI
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. It is responsible for regulating and supervising food safety to protect public health.
FSSAI Registration or License is mandatory before starting any food-related business. The Food Safety and Standards Act establishes science-based standards for food and regulates manufacturing.
Types of FSSAI Licenses

Which FSSAI Registration or License You Need?
The type of FSSAI registration depends on your annual turnover, nature of business, business operations, and production capacity.
Basic Registration
Required for petty food business operators with an annual turnover below ₹12 lakh.
State License
Required for food businesses with an annual turnover ranging from ₹12 lakh to ₹20 crore.
Central License
Required for food businesses with an annual turnover above ₹20 crore. Note: Some businesses like import/export must obtain a Central license regardless of turnover.

- Product details & DGFT E-code (if applicable)
For Central License
- Form B (duly filled & signed)
- Layout plan of premises
- Company details (MOA, AOA, partnership deed)
- Food safety management system plan
- Equipment, machinery, and raw material details
- Municipality NOC, Tourism certificate, IEC code (if applicable)
