Welcome to TRUSTLINK INDIA
12A and 80G Registration
A step forward for your NGO to start working and grow through tax-exempt donations.
NGO Foundation & Tax Benefits
The Government of India provides tax exemptions to help NGOs raise funds. NGOs mainly rely on donations, and gaining the proper registrations is essential for unlocking these benefits.
NGOs in India can be formed under:
- Public Trust Act
- Societies Registration Act
- Section 8 Company
How 12A & 80G registrations help:
- 12AB Registration: The income of the NGO itself becomes entirely tax-free.
- 80G Registration: Donors receive tax exemptions on the donations they make to your NGO.
Eligibility Criteria
Ensure your organization meets these core requirements to be eligible for 12A and 80G registrations.
No Profit Motive
Promoters must not earn profit from NGO activities.
Valid Registration
Must be registered as a Trust, Society, or Section 8 Company.
Charitable Purposes
Funds must be strictly utilized only for charitable purposes.
Proper Bookkeeping
Proper books of accounts must be maintained at all times.
Strict Fund Usage
There must be absolutely no misuse of funds by the members.
No Discrimination
The NGO should not work specifically for a particular caste or religion.
Separate Accounts
Separate bank accounts for general income and donations must be maintained.
Broadening the Scope of an NGO
Beyond simple tax benefits, obtaining these registrations significantly helps NGOs scale their operations and impact.
Attract More Donors
Donors are highly incentivized to contribute when they receive legitimate tax benefits under section 80G.
Government Grants
These registrations are a mandatory requirement when applying for various government grants and funding schemes.
Broader Funding Access
Enables your NGO to access funding from larger national and international corporate networks.
Expanded Reach
With more funding and credibility, your NGO can easily expand its mission and the geographic reach of its operations.
Foreign Funding
Required as a stepping stone for receiving foreign funding (alongside FCRA 2010 exceptions).

Officially recognized NGOs hold significantly higher operational value and credibility in the public eye.
